These instructions assume that Microsoft Windows 2008 or 2016 is installed as the network operating system, on a dedicated file server computer.
The best network protocol to use for ADS is TCP/IP. The best performance is obtained when static IP addresses are used throughout the network. It is recommended to use the reserved 192.168.x.x addressing scheme.
We will not support other protocols unless advised in advance of installation.
In testing your network setup, you must be able to “ping” the server by name, not just by IP address.
Also, Extended Systems, Inc. recommends setting up network cards in the server and workstations in half-duplex mode.
